THE NEW SENSORMATIC® FOIL-LINED BAG DETECTION SOLUTION FROM ADT CAN HELP IDENTIFY THIEVES AS THEY ENTER STORES

The Sensormatic AMC 7000 foil-lined bag detection solution installs easily and integrates seamlessly with Sensormatic 2m Ultra•Exit pedestals without additional antennas

September 24, 2009 - ADT Fire & Security, Europe’s leading provider of electronic security and fire protection solutions, announces the Sensormatic AMC 7000 foil-lined bag detection solution for the Sensormatic Ultra•Exit portfolio. It can help retailers detect foil-lined bags and clothing that thieves often use to circumvent anti-theft systems. This solution specifically detects foil-lined bags also known as "booster bags" as they enter and exit stores, providing retailers added security and identifying shoplifters before they succeed at stealing.

Powered by the AMS-9050 controller, this solution installs easily and integrates seamlessly with Sensormatic Ultra•Exit pedestals to offer excellent detection coverage up to 2m (6'7") wide. Unique in the industry, the Sensormatic AMC 7000 foil-lined bag detection solution does not require retailers to install additional antennas or modify pedestal layouts. This optimizes retail floor space to enhance the customer shopping experience while protecting profitability.

"Thieves using techniques such as foil-lined bags, even clothing, are becoming more common methods of shoplifting," according to a spokesperson from Grupo Cortefiel, a leading fashion retailer with 1,566 stores in 60 countries. "The Sensormatic system from ADT enables us to detect these kinds of robberies and improves the profitability of our stores. Our objective is to always remain one step ahead of the offenders by deploying systems like the Sensormatic AMC 7000 solution for our Ultra•Exit pedestals that allows us to protect our goods from this type of theft."

The Sensormatic foil-lined bag detection solution can filter common metal items such as shopping carts, keys, cell phones and metal packaged goods. Also retailers can choose between several alarm methods, including the Sensormatic remote alarm, beacon lamp or standard Ultra•Exit alarm that sounds a distinct tone for metal detection alerts.  Retailers can customize their alarm method by mapping the alarm to a separate device such as a cell phone, PDA or pager. Compatible with the Sensormatic SmartEAS® solution, the AMC 7000 has the ability to communicate with the Local Device Manager (LDM), allowing retailers to capture store data through detailed reports that help identify trends, store challenges and potential shrink issues.

According to John Smith, ADT Security’s Vice President of Retail Sales for Europe and the Middle East, "As shoplifters continue to evolve their tactics, it is important to develop tools that offer retailers added security with optimum flexibility. The Sensormatic AMC 7000 foil-lined bag detection solution from ADT is an integrated approach that helps retailers gain a unique advantage to combat theft, even identify shoplifters as they enter the store."
