ADT SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVES GS1 EPCGLOBAL REACCREDITATION FOR ITS RFID PERFORMANCE TEST CENTER IN ECHT, THE NETHERLANDS
ADT Affirmed As the Only Retail Solutions Provider Focused On Using Consistent Global Standards to Drive Intelligence from the Sales Floor Back Into the Supply Chain
BOCA RATON, Fla. – January 11, 2010 – ADT Security Services announced today that it received the GS1 EPCglobal Certificate of Accreditation for its RFID Performance Test Center in Echt, The Netherlands, distinguishing ADT as the only retail solutions provider focused on consistent global standards to earn the recognition. By successfully completing the Accredited Test Center Program v2.0 laboratory audit process, ADT demonstrates its continued focus on maintaining high standards of processes and testing for its Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solutions. This reaccreditation helps ensure ADT’s RFID solutions provide retailers with consistent performance compliance to meet the Electronic Product Code (EPC) standards.
EPCglobal Inc., a subsidiary of GS1, the not-for-profit standards organization, supports the worldwide adoption of the EPC standards to enable accurate, immediate and cost-effective visibility of information throughout the supply chain. As a founding member of GS1 EPCglobal Inc., ADT actively participates in its Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) Phase 2 Joint Requirement Group. The Group recently released the EAS Strategic Overview Guide and the Technical Implementation Guide for deployments of EPC-based RFID solutions.
“ADT is the only retail solutions provider focused on consistent standards for the retail sector that has earned this reaccreditation,” said Jeff Bean, vice president Retail Sales and Operations for ADT. “This is important because it gives our customers confidence that our item level intelligence portfolio will meet a standardized performance level. It also means our solutions can deliver intelligent data from the retail selling floor with consistent and predictable quality to help our customers optimize store operations.”
“Retailers are increasingly evaluating item-level EPC/RFID to enhance visibility across the supply chain through the in-store environment,” said Michael Liard, RFID practice director, ABI Research. “With EPC/RFID awareness and interest sharply rising, a growing number of retailers and apparel manufacturers are evaluating and deploying end-to-end total EPC/RFID solutions from experienced, certified vendors such as ADT
The GS1 EPCglobal Performance Test Center Accreditation Program was developed to assess and evaluate the capabilities of testing facilities around the globe. The Accreditation Mark signifies that ADT has successfully completed the GS1 EPCglobal Test Center Reassessment Audit and uses a standard set of test profiles to simulate real-world conditions. For ADT’s worldwide customers this means the company adheres to established specifications for performance testing and the audit process, meeting the exacting criteria that are compliant with GS1 EPCglobal standards.
“We want to make it easy for end users to ensure that their tagged shipments can be read before sending them through their global supply chains,” said Nicholas Fergusson, Director of Certification, EPCglobal Inc. “The GS1 EPCglobal Test Center Accreditation Program will help end users be assured that an accredited third party has established that these shipments adhere to the specifications,” he said.
